Bacone Alumna visits the campus and museum.
After signing the guest register and introducing herself, Nancy informed me she was once a Bacone student and now resides in California.
Accompanied by her mother Lorene of Muskogee, Nancy spent a comfortable amount of time viewing the collection, specifically that of Dr. Richard “Dick” West, her then professor of art.
Before leaving the museum Nancy commented they both enjoyed their museum visit. I asked if the campus is as she remembered, Nancy said “It has grown quite a bit.”

The work day has ended but not without a visit by a friendly couple from Vian, OK. who are on their way to the Sequoyah High School basketball game in Tahlequah, OK.
We spent a little time researching a family keepsake. A basket, most likely Apache, has been in their family since the 1920’s .
Been a good day.

Family always welcome!
Mrs. Dona Yahola, Director for American Indian Students of Promise at Bacone College, has family visiting from Brookfield, Wisconsin this weekend. Dona being the thoughtful one brought her Uncle Bob and Aunt Pat to visit the Ataloa Lodge Museum. Dona also informed me that later this evening she will be serving her (now famous) corn soup for Uncle Bob and Aunt Pat.
I hope to post a photo of their visit soon, we will have to imagine the soup.

Welcome to my museum musings!
First thing yesterday morning I was fortunate to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Anderson Ph.D. of Missouri, bright and early this couple was on a journey across Oklahoma, visiting American Indian sites and museums of note.
I’m happy to report the Ataloa Lodge Museum was one of the first stops on their journey through Indian Territory/Oklahoma.
Dr. Anderson a correspondent and travel writer for the Columbia Daily Tribune, led me to a website worthy of sharing; www.venturebound.net this is an impressive site maintained by Dr. Anderson and devoted to various American Indian sites he and Mrs. Anderson have visited.
